I cannot even start a game. If I click 'start', I get stuck at a blank screen and have to restart the whole game. If I click 'new game' I get to a character creation screen, but can't click 'create'. What am I doing wrong?

so. the first little lore bit that the player encounters in game involves a creature that transforms... and he got stuck on the tree making the game unplayable. and you cant even miss the cutscene! When you go through the main portal it cuts to the unplayable too. how to bypass scene?...
