For me somehow getting hit in cover doesn't count and i got all the medals for it.
For the ruins part, you don't even to fight, you just need to reach the back of the ruins to move to the deer part, I just blitzed on the right hand side to the back of the ruins.
It's not. I earned a platinum on the first mission this morning. To earn platinum on missions, you need to do all primary, secondary, and missions challenges in one go. The mission challenges for the first mission is to defeat all the snowman (8 in total) and not get hit by any snowball.
It is. While the victory screen shows the bar filling up to the max(ie platinum), the profile does not reflect(does not add to platinum medal tally count) it nor does the achievement screen(which in turn means the janek portrait can't be unlocked). I met all objectives including destroying every single snowman as well as not getting hit, both objectives have green ticks against them. I have done it 3 times already including taking the drastic measure of reinstalling and wiping all save data but to no avail.
Does it show a platinum medal for you for that particular mission in the achievement(profile -> achievement screen?

2nd. I went back this morning to do it.
Weird, I have tried it 3 times in a row already while meeting both challenges. The only thing I didn't manage to "complete" was the "kill 5" because it automatically moves to the next phase on the 2nd or 3rd kill so there's no way to complete it. I even made the effort to kill all the remaining rather than head straight to the end point to move on to the deer hunt
I didn't kill 5 either. It automatically moves you after 2. I killed all snowmen, dodged snowballs as described in my first post, and earned the platinum.
Might sound silly, but did you go claim all the rewards under achievements for the mission? You have to claim each one to go up to platinum.
Thanks for the suggestion but I have already claimed them all except the janek portrait. Could it be the difficulty? What did you do it on? I tried it on hard.
If not, I have ran out of ideas.
I have restarted the campaign as well as reinstalled the game but nothing works. I hope I won't have to reinstall my os just for it to pop...
It's definitely not the difficulty then. The first time I completed the mission was on hard for the sake of going through the campaign, however, when I redid the mission to earn achievements, I did it on easy. I would assume completing it on hard would guarantee the achievement if I earned it on easy.
The only other suggestion I have is that I completed the entire Polania campaign, then went back afterwards to earn platinum. But I also can't imagine that would be a requirement as I've earned platinum on another mission the first time I went through it while playing the campaign.
I think that's the "bug"!!!
I finally managed to get the achievement by lowering the difficulty to medium for that mission. So my guess is that it somehow locks out the medal for that specific difficulty if we don't get it on our very first attempt. Eg. If you don't get platinum on your first hard attempt at that mission, subsequent attempts at that difficulty won't be recognized. So you will have to attempt on either medium or easy. If the person failed to complete on the first attempt for all difficulties....then that means they cannot achieve the medal anymore unless the devs rectify the matter, assuming it is not intentional in the first place.
The other theory I have is that the game's server is faulty for whatever reason, assuming we need a connection to it in order to unlock medals and achievements. I noticed that on my 3rd,4th and 5th attempt at that mission on hard difficulty, it doesn't award me anymore XP, be it profile or faction. Is that intended? Is there a limit to the number of times or amount of xp we can gain from playing a particular difficulty on a particular mission? Because that's what it seems like since on switching to medium difficulty(that I have yet to attempt), it not only awarded me the platinum medal but xp as well. If it is not intended, then it is the server having difficulty registering my achievement.
Either way, for those that have the same issue, play it on a different difficulty that you have not attempted for that mission yet.
PS: Devs, please look into it. You don't want to give a bad first impression to those who give their time to try and achieve challenges.

I want to say that you're locked out of the difficulty that you first complete the mission on? Not just the first attempt on that difficulty. I completed a platinum on another mission (2nd mission) after doing it 3 times -- again on easy.
Regardless, that is extremely silly to have to do it on a different difficulty in general or be locked out if that's the case and I'm glad you managed to get the platinum.
