I haven't seen another RTS like C&C Red Alert 2 ever since EA (f*cking dirtbags) absorbed Westwood and ruined the C&C franchise. And I haven't ever found another RTS I've enjoyed as equally much ever since. It's like everything else is: 1) too complicated/niche, 2) too simple/dumb, 3) formulaic/boring AF.
I still enjoy Iron Harvest nonetheless because I do like the story. Even most people who criticize Iron Harvest's gameplay, lackluster AI, and other problems, will still praise IH for its story. It's one of the better campaigns you'll ever play in a video game.
I also enjoy the Scythe board game that shares the same source material as Iron Harvest. Maybe that makes me a fanboy of the 1920+ Universe? I really don't care, it don't matter. But also because I feel like my choices are slim. If I played CoH, I'd be playing the same game from what I've heard about it. I might as well play the one that's got mechs.
So few maps results in the same crap happening over and over.
It's basically CoH with gimmicky skins for your tanks but worse in every single other way.
They introduced the concept of heroes but imo also not particularly well executed. Way less interesting than putting points into your commander type in CoH.
Maybe I will come back and review this more constructively later, but not feeling that motivated to do so. Just annoyed at this point.
they're trying to copy the COH2 gameplay and just couldnt get it right.. coh2 is and was popular to some extent, so the idea behind it wasnt bad to copy them.. its the execution that is flawed..
i really wish they could get it right, for me its like on the edge of being fun, but i would still rather play COH2 or AOE2DE
They could add a pop mechanic which gives you more resources from your base if you have less. And make bases give more resources if you have less mines on the map.
omf yes!!! wow when the AI isnt just being plain dumb, it bugs out and does nothing.. cant count how many matches the AI resorted to doing absolutely nothing, turning insane AI into a sandbox match mid game..
Simply put, they shouldn't have even included multiplayer as a feature if they're unwilling to balance it.
