Actually it is not a "free" expansion - if you own Deluxe Edition you just already paid for it in the form of pre-order.

And in the notes from the upcoming DLC they mentioned that another faction will be added and I presume that this one will also be included in Deluxe Edition.

been trying to weigh up if buying the deluxe edition or normal version is better.
I mean i will have time before needing to hit the dlc, by then it may have gone on discount or a season pass may have come out which would cost the same as players who didnt have any dlc's (effectively deluxe owners would be getting charged twice) so do i get the standard and wait since its basically all your getting extra anyways with the deluxe

I recommend u buy deluxe, if they ever plan on adding any other DLCs like nordic Kingdoms, or shogunate then u would already have them. Or atleast, thats what i did.

Sadly, no, I thought so too. But last time I've checked the description of Deluxe Edition on GOG it says that it contains "base game + one small mini-camaign and ONE bigger expansion with new faction". So, if there will be more expansions, we will need to pay extra.

So at that point, it's clear as glass.

But, one of the kickstarter versions was called a deluxe edition (a fairly low cost one), and when you start the game, it says 'all with the deluxe edition get the Usonia expansion for free, or words to that effect.

They really should have called the steam version the 'gold edition' or something. Still, from the reading of the actual deluxe version(s) it's pretty clear what people should and shouldn't expect. The text was not in any sort of advertising, so I doubt that it gives any legal liability - this isn't wrongful advertising, just wrongful information. #NotLegalAdvice

Yes but when things say deluxe edition. We all paid for said deluxe edition on the KS. Now all of a sudden it isn't the deluxe deluxe edition. Honestly it is false advertising.

Whoa WTF! I paid for the Deluxe Version at release on Steam, only because it said it included all future DLC, and now it says only the mini-campaign (Rusviet) and a new faction+campaign (Usonia). In fact, I recall the developers saying that the Rusviet mini-campaign was free for all. What is even going on here?

That is bait and switch if I've ever seen it.
