snapping to another location on the map where "stuff is happening" could be sort of weird this way, but like... its better than dipping to bottom level ranges of FPS just because the coding wants to read every single effect happening on the map.
some might boil that down to faulty or outdated hardware, but i can't go out spending upwards of 2000 euros every 5 years on a new toptuned gaming pc just to keep up with what i would consider bad coding or over-eager developing standards.
look i know everyone wants nice physics, cool graphics and realism, but the priority in a strategy game should be the performance, not the pretty sparkles, but at the same time i don't want to sit here using crappy low-setting laptop level graphics just because the optimization on high settings are badly coded.
if the game ignored effects (explosions, smoke animations etc.) not directly on my screen then i would probably run at least 50-60 fps consistently, but since it insists that every effect on the map needs to be 'read' it just tanks the fps for no real reason... im not looking at the effects, im not witnessing them.. i might HEAR them, but sound don't take a toll on the graphics card the same way.
I am doing the Rusviet missions, I did that night one where you disable a radio tower and such. Just walking everything is peachy... 1 Saxon walker goes through a building, nothing else on screen besides Janek and one vanguard squad, BOOM 30 fps. And nothing is happening else where on the map as it's a scenario rather than basebuilding so everything is just standing around until you show up.
It's pretty bad when you lower the setting's from all high to medium and not a single frame is gained back. Did the Mission just now with the rocket in the centre, once I started to make a push it was just 20-30 fps consistently. Good times.
My settings are all high and 1920 x 1080
Gpu and cpu use are very low during these moments.
I wonder if its something to do with the game engine..
Yeah, for me it’s not heavy action. Sometimes it runs just fine during heavy, but the moment smoke and debris from buildings show up it just tanks for the rest of the match. Definitely some sort of poor optimization despite the game have an expansion and such.
Stuttering in game, in cutscenes, choppy audio, screen flickering, feels really awful honestly. Pretty disappointed because if it ran properly it seems like it would be a really fun game, I just can't get into it because the performance is so bad.
