Tzar: The Burden of the Crown Remaster
Hello,

This post is addressed mainly for game developers. Have you ever considered remastering Tzar? It was the first game of Haemimont Games and I think it would be a perfect idea to refresh this game. ''Age of empires definitive edition'' series is a good example that people still like to play classic strategy games. One of the possibilities to raise funds to refresh the game could be kickstarter or any other similar website.

Thank you for reading

But Loria is getting a successor, Loria 2 is under way.
Which means that even though what you say is true about cult classics, absolute good games get their attention and fanbase nevertheless.
I'll buy loria 2, and will buy tsar 2 or rising kingdoms 2 if such ever get released, because,
I'm a pure RTS fan, and yes I love AOE 2, I love starcraft 1, but I DONT love starcraft 2 and warcraft remastered and I reckon there's a lot of ppl just like me

Just because other games get remasters, or that you would buy them, does not mean anything in the grand scheme of things. I would buy a Tzar Remaster in a heartbeat as well. But I know very well that other people would not. And my money is on the fact that Loria 2 will fail as well if it will be a classic RTS.

Those types of games are simply not popular anymore. There is no market for them. Every single classic RTS released in the past couple of years have either flopped or is barely handing on. That's the reality of the situation. The only way for a remaster or a sequel to a classic RTS game to succeed is to be a really big and recognizable franchise. Tzar is not it. Loria is not as well.
Maybe RTS are not so popular anymore but that doesn't mean it has to be a known franchise to succeed.
Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation and ZeroK for instance.

Are RTS games a niche` genre now?
Maybe.... in my opinion its due to people just being so busy they can't put aside the time to play a campaign. That doesn't mean RTS as a genre is dead.

There is definitely a market for RTS games.
We wouldn't even have a page for RTS's on Steam -if RTS were dead.
Also a dead genre wouldn't see titles in that genre still being made.

Actually if anything I think RTS games may be beginning to thrive again.
My reasoning:
Look at the prices of recent RTS games -they have been going up since 2015.
Most RTS used to be a flat $30 and usually would go down in price in the following years.
Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation follows this example.

HOWEVER some RTS titles are not following this trend.
They are either holding their own or actually going UP in price over time.
Homeworld Remastered Collection & Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak respectivily.

is actually the most expensive I have seen for an RTS in ages compared to an old game you will never find: Project Earth: Starmageddon
