Full screen on Windows 10

Hi guys!

Tzar is part of my childhood and I'm pleasantly surprised to see it on Steam.

Is there any way to make it work in full screen mode?

For me personally the following solution from the given possible solutions in the link i gave worked for both the retail and the gog versions:

The solutions presented above don't work on the steam version tho.. There is no option to maintain aspect ratio on steam

Yup, the game fails to start when I try to apply any of those.

try the following:
1. go to the game installation folder
2. right mouse click on the tzar executable
3. properties
4.compatibility
5. compatibility mode: Windows 98/ME

please let me know if that worked :)

p.s. try starting the game from the tzar executable if starting from steam is not doing the trick.

If using an Nvidia GPU:
- Go to the Nvidia Control Panel
- Under the Display area, click on Adjust desktop size and position
- Under the scaling tab, have Aspect Ratio button selected and perform scaling on: Display
- Also check the Override the scaling mode box
- Apply the changes
You may need to change the Tzar.exe compatibility to Windows 98/ME still.

None of these solutions have worked for me. How can I play this game in full screen?

I have Windows 10 and the game launches in full screen out of the box. I didn't have to do anything, it just works.

Another quick solution solution (try this solution first):
_Open the file tzar.ini. Change the following line under videos: DIRECTXDEVICE=-1 to DIRECTXDEVICE=0
_Save and close the file

No way, program won't even start and steam UI is crashed afterwards.

Hi guys when you open the MENU just push CTRL+ALT+F11 same time. 3 different screen types. its easy and fast. But after playing the game your desktop screen size will change. you can change it back manually. enjoy the game...
