Kurisu and Kagari

Is it explained somehow, perhaps in the anime, why they look almost alike? For most of the game I was expecting a deus ex time machina and learn something like Kurisu is actually Kagari, born in the future and time traveled, or they are related... But I noticed no link throughout the game.
