switch puzzles
In a couple levels you have puzzles with 4 switches, where the solution is a combination of switches turned either on or off. The way I solve them is mashing E while aiming left and right, but this does not seem like the intended solution. Has anybody found in-level hints for these puzzles?

That's just like in DN3D, that's the intended solution, no in-level hints, like the dev commentary in Alien World Order says "it's just a good way to slow the player down and get them frustrated trying to figure out the damn thing".

there's always a hint, like in Dusk. just look around and you'll find it, you don't have to look very hard

One of you is wrong. I have yet to find any hint of a solution in-game, any discussions pointing to a hint in-game, or even the wiki telling me of a hint.

There's no setup with more than 4 buttons. That's an absolute max of 16 possibilities. Just try them all out systematically. Takes like 30 seconds at most. Why do you even expect an in-game hint for that?
