HROT

Sounds are unsatisfying
While this game has very aesthetically pleasing visuals, the sound effects leave something to be desired. When I expect a "bang" or a "boom", all I get is a "click" at best most of the time.

8/9/2020.

That's right and you are not the first or the last person who said or wrote that. The weak and underpowered Gunsounds was the 2nd thing I realized while I was pleased by the visuals.
And this is something the Devs have to change urgently! What we all need for HROT is a loud and powerfull weaponsound.

Especially the shotgun sounds

I think it adds to the charm of the game feeling like a forgotten 90s shooter.

Yeah. There's a reason such FPS are referred to as "boomer shooters". The sound effects may sound a little quiet in contrast to modern games due to compression, but you still get a
distinctive kick from them. The sound effects in this game don't sound compressed, just... Wrong. Here's hoping they'll be replaced in the finished game.

not sure what you mean but here are powerful sounds from forgotten FPS:

Chasm: The Rift: https://youtu.be/GH9sgFZpmRY
Powerslave: https://youtu.be/kHeVgxXHgAI
Operation Body Count: https://youtu.be/RiCFRClJzFo
Terminator: Future Shock: https://youtu.be/t6DiUk9sgVc

One of the issues that this game also has is the inconsistency of audio files' sample rate. Some are 44 kHz and some are 22 kHz.

I had fun on the demo level, but the gun sounds were honestly pitiful. I laughed the first time I fired the pistol. Hopefully, this isn't a hard thing to correct. Quake, Dust and especially Brutal Doom would be good examples of what I'd be hoping for.

I agree with Quake and Dusk but not Brutal Doom. Brutal Doom's sounds are too dirty and unpolished.

I agree with you, the sounds leave much to be desired. But overall, it seems like it's gonna be a really legitimate game, I would also prefer a kick, when you fire the shotgun or the pistol. It seems pretty static.

Gun sounds are pretty awful, but then again so is the rest of the demo so I suppose it fits.

Charm!? They are a bunch of awfully created gunshot sound effects edited from audio ripped from YouTube videos. They don't fit the mid 90s style of FPS AT ALL!

It doesnt make a difference, bottom line is that Brutal Doom has better gun sounds than HROT.

better in comparison, but the game better not have those kinds of sounds. better be like mid to late 90s FPS like Quake, Quake II, Chasm: The Rift, Shadow Warrior, Blood, Blood 2, Sin, Unreal, Half-Life, etc.
