1. attack
2. pause
3. goto 1
So you should:
1. spam dodge or spam guard
2. hit with your biggest attack (usually your sub weapon 2)
3. goto 1
Try to stay airborne during the attack, it'll hit you less. Swallow that pride, and put on Auto-Guard, it's more helpful than a big HP or attack buff parts. Try to stay close enough to trigger the ranged attacks, but not so close that it'll do melees.
Someone else here in the forums made a Hashmal video, and despite that guy having a bad attitude, his video is actually pretty helpful. Even if you don't pull off those perfect dodges, it's still a good strategy for the fight:

As has been often said, Auto-Guard is good. Like...a lot better than you'd think for a freebie the game gives you. I didn't use it for Hashmal, but it worked wonders on Psycho and Zeong. The fights were still rough as an infighter (Barbatos), but I got through by being a lot less aggressive.
For Hashmal and Psycho, in particular, it seems like you can temporarily stun them (20 seconds or so?) by doing enough damage to their legs. Seems to be a trait shared by a lot of the MA bosses.
