I-Field , while lore accurate , is just dumb , and don't bother using melee against these full body hit box with multi hit melee. Even if you block the first you take the second hit because it magically hit your back while you are blocking, or you perfect dodge first hit and gets hit anyway because you are still in animation.
If the demo included these MA I am 100% sure I am not buying , but here I am :(
If you hold the block button you perfect guard everything after. If you just tap you only perfect guard the first few hits. It's weird but you'll get used to it.
But you definitely want to equip the skill that increases damage to enemies with i field or barrier or whatever. Once you break down the barrier every beam weapon does extra damage. Or you can use physical weapons and just beat them normally.
Also melee beam weapons do both damage to hp and shield.
i suppose there's an element of "git gud" to it tho.
