Where is the Emcon tutorial?
I've only played 3 hours of the gamle but already loved it. I think I have mastered the basics except for Emcon. Isn't supposed to be a tutorial of how to operate this or have I missed it? Can someone point me to info of how to use Emcon?

Same here. Im wondering how to go totally "silent". With Encom I still have 3 or 4 bars of stealth up. How do you go completely and utterly dark and just drift? I've looked all over and can't seem to figure it out.

You'll meet somebody at an airlock in a station to talk about Emcon, you'll know when you see them :)

To go fully dark, remember to check closely the emissions of all your modules (em), you can update with stealthier components sometimes.
Most efficient is just to disconnect all non-essential modules: for example i'd plan a drift, check how long it would take on the NavCom, deactivate everything but the batteries/solar, time it on my phone and reactivate after.
That way i barely get 1-2 bars!

You can play around with the modules for your preferred stealth on the "power" screen on the ship.
Every module has a setting on/off for Emcon (for me it's Emcon "on" = will be deactivated by pressing Emcon button, and Emcon "off" = will be left alone and still activated)
The only thing is that coming off Emcom reactivate everyyyything and can be a burden on your power generation sometimes aha

Also blue nebulaes to hide emissions! (that won't affect the Emcon display itself though)

The big zen moment about the Emcon button is to not think of it as a "Stealth mode" button.

Rather, you think of it as an emergency "Turn off as many things as possible (including IFF)" button. Which can be highly risky in certain situations compared to manual control in certain situations, oddly enough.

Most think about how off EmCon will turn your reactors back on, which is a big oops in stealth.

But turning EmCon ON can be a rough time when for example, you had already charged up your jump drive.

Jump drives by default are set to be disabled when you activate Emcon. Disabling your jump drive while it's already charged means premature discharge. (Which means needing to power it up again. Discharge forces your nav computer into reboot, you get the idea).

Only mildly related due to Emissions chat. The lowest emissions Main thrusters may SAY it has the same max speed as the Orchid you start with. But some digging through the files reveals the "GS-MPD" thruster has a thrust modifier of 0.2 , while the Orchid (and several other entry level/economic thrusters) have a thrust modifier of 0.4

I can't decide if it's a good idea or bad idea for me to keep that particular thruster in my lazy mode file, or keep an eye out for bigger and better. Because while they are the slowest thruster in the entire game... That's still giving me an "Actual" Em and Drain stat of 63.50 (over 50) and 9.72 (over 8) with a mix of Octan and Stealth chips.

"Okay, this is the weakest baby thruster in the entire game-wait that's less drain than my RCS..." being able to run a low % thrust burn forever with 2 (3 if sassy) stealth bars thanks to a solar panel is hilarious, even if probably wildly inefficient in the long run.
