Is there any way to make my display name something other than CERESPILOT at present? Or rename my ship?

Unfortunately not at the moment. You can change your name in the options screen but it does not carry over to the game for some reason. I'm hoping this gets fixed soon and that ship renaming gets added as well.

I am hoping we get a different start option (Newcomer rubs me the wrong way, and going through it multiple times is really painful).

wasn't able to find this anywhere, is the "options screen" where the input configuration, sound/music volume is?

I found the option to change your pilot name on the monitor where you request unlock permission on the 2nd tab icon. It costs 200c. I have not tried it myself, yet.

hadn't noticed the second tab there at all

it worked, changed both the ship name and the player name: it looks like it displays the new name everywhere except in old mails, which is somewhat to be expected

feature request: would be great if it asked for a name when starting a new game

I would really like the tab bar icons to always be visible in all screens. Otherwise it's too easy to miss them and never know they are there. I know screen real estate is a premium. But when I have enemies on my tail, I don't want to have to fumble for the weapons panel icon.
