DIY Control panels?
I know that in the games description it says that you can build your own control panels and such, Has anyone done this yet? I'd love to see some of them.

Not a player made control panel but I believe this is one of the setups the devs had at hand for PAX-West.

Yeah I've seen this one, was just wondering if anyone has made one/is in the process of making one.

I'm looking into it myself, but I have not started anything yet.

Jealous! If I get around to it, we need to compare setups! :D

I've been plsying around with some parts I had laying around the shop here this week between crashes, and it's pretty fun to plan panels out. I'm working on a second serial interface to my old Commodore64 to use it as a secondary status screen on an old 1702 monitor. Going for the true modempunk vibe...lol Also really easy to integrate an LCD that can display all kinds of status info. Adafruit has a two wire i2c RGB LCD module for pretty cheap if you go the arduino route.

I'd love if the devs added more regular keybinds so people could be a bit more flexible with hardware, we're not all swimming in AVRs and LEDs...lol

I took my first steps last night by having the game detect and allegedly handshake to a Teensy-LC microcontroller that I connected.

I've recently moved house and so still need to unpack my shift registers and whatnot, but I hope to at least be able to flip ship components on and off and see their current status using a simple setup.

The API provided seems pretty simple for interfacing with all kinds of things that can do 9600 baud. HEll there's even a few serial over USB libraries for Android phones out there. It'd be a fun app for someone to build. Hmm...Omni in my pocket with live system status...nice

For a quick and ready out of the box solution you could look into the Elgato Stream Deck.
