Magnus Affection System
It needs to be way more clear and consistent. Feeding, brushing, and petting, those are the ways to increase affection right? Does feeding raise affection if the magnus is already full? Do brushing and petting only raise affection once per day? If so, the animations should be changed, to show that your action had no effect, instead of the same floating hearts every time. Are there any other factors? Does the magnus affection rise naturally when it's just in your party, or fighting? Are they supposed to lose affection in the barn? Because they do. Is there just a hard cap on how many points you can get per day?

I ask these questions because after lots of testing, it still seems all over the place. I've sat there for 15 minutes petting, brushing, and feeding, and that didn't bring the affection from 1 to 2 hearts. But then I've just played naturally with a new magnus for about 7 in game days, barely paying attention to it besides occasional food, and it got to 2 hearts on its own.

And of the ways to increase affection, what are the amounts? Which is quickest? Is brushing better than petting? It takes longer, but we have the same exact animation for everything so how can we know? And honestly, given the buggy history of the game, we need a way to be sure that it's even functioning properly. Maybe the hearts slowly fill up with green over time until they're full, or you put a number somewhere showing the percentage of affection until the next level. We need more info.

Magnus are pretty much the main theme of the game, and affection is the main 'grind' to evolve them (levels come naturally and most evolution foods are easy) so it needs to be more straightforward. There are what, 150 magnus to tame? After the beginning of the game, lvl 15 comes much sooner than 2 hearts, so we need to be able to figure out the best way to raise affection. Right now it's frustrating instead of fun. I know you have a lot of work to do with bugs and polish, in addition to making new content, but this should be prioritized.

Sorry but this didn't clear anything up at all. Why would you feed them twice per day if the food bar is still full with 3 points? They only seem to need food once per day, or every other day. Are you sure the brush does anything? Is it limited to one brushing per day? Does petting them even increase hearts anymore like it used to, or does it just check their status? Since the same animation plays for everything, and the game doesn't show you any numbers between hearts, how can we know? Plus the system keeps changing, you used to be able to just spam pet them until it went up.

I would like a dev to answer these questions, someone who is 100% sure of how the system works, and I'd like it to be more clear in the actual game. I don't think that's asking for too much. Because "Just play and do things randomly until the hearts eventually fill up" doesn't really cut it.

I don't think even the devs 100% know. There was way too much development going on before planning in this game.

Someone else posted this found it accurate;

You feed favourite food & brush once per day you get a heart in 3 days.

If you feed non favourite same thing, but 10 - 15 days.

It requires favourite food to evolve it to that evolution stage.
