Save game system

I was wondering how does the save game system work in this game??
I exited in the middle of a "run" and I went to continue the game it was grayed out and would not allow me to continue.

It will be automatically saved when:
When move between each square(sector)
When pressing the Encounter button
at every turn of the battle

Were you fighting with enemy when you quit the game?

I'm having the same situation where regardless of when I exit, I'm always forced to start a new game. I don't really mind though I'm just doodling around until the 3rd floor arrives.

In my case, my computer shut down when I was playing (external factor), then all record and CG disappeared.
I lost 9 hours game record for this. QAQ

I tested something today. I exited from the screen that shows the different paths you can take and restarted the game. The continue button is now available. I guess you just have to exit from that screen.

Well,scratch what I said up above. I thought i had it figured out but I have exited twice from the path screen and when I went to continue it was blacked out again.
VERY frustrating. Have no idea what is going on here.

All other records will be saved, but only gameplay not be saved?

correct. I still have the talent points that I have earned but it wont let me continue the previous game.

The last Patch have the auto save system broken !!!

I was given a suggestion to run Steam as an administrator. I was not expecting this to make a difference for the save game problem of this game but,to my total surprise,I have been able to continue my game about 10 times now.
If you are having problems with this, I would try this even though it doesnt seem like it would make a difference.

Where are the save files located as I needed to reinstall my operating system and have everything backed up off the operating drives.
