But you don't need to worry, yes you can still get a 70 player game pretty often. TABG has been around the same players and same activity since 2018, I don't think it will actually die and become unplayable unless the devs fully pull the plug on the servers. Don't feel rushed to play it before it dies because it's not going anywhere for a long time.
Although, even if they do pull the plug, they added one last thing for us, the Community Servers. You can freely host your own matches, even modify them to your hearts content (that is if you know any kind of coding!) you can make your own custom gamemodes and all sorts of things, take a step further by modifying both your client and server you can literally make new content for the game, but players connecting to your server will need to have a modded client at that point. But there is a lot of stuff you can do server-side that requires no client modding!
Yeah, it's my favorite game in general. I've been playing it since 2018 original release and it's always been about the same in lobby size. Just depends on the time of day you play. Too hard for it to compete with every other F2P BR having dozens if not hundreds of developers working on it to push nearly weekly content, not possible for an indie game studio to compete in that market.
I suspect people would just leave.
