This guy gets it
1) I agree with you, when I first got the game, it really felt like a novelty and I was enjoying every second of it. I left for awhile because I couldn't get matches to queue, and then with the new betas, I came back. The game still has the same novelty and I really enjoy it. I'm fairly sure atleast 1/2-3/4ths of my play hours have come from the betas/f2p update.
2) The blessings do seem fairly counter intuitive at first, but some of them are actually good, and that makes a "strategy" with which class you want to be in terms of blessings. Tanks would have shields, health, and relax/regeneration. Fighters/Warriors would have weapon mastery, dash, and speed. It makes for some variation in what kind of play type you are intrested in, and with different play types on the same team, it really develops a perfect team where you can have the tank distract, the fighters go in, and maybe have a melee try to go in and take out as many as possible before getting knocked. Additionally, dash is supposed to be strategically used in fights, in my opinion.
3) As @Saltigue commented above, I think you forgot that armor made the smallest difference. The only thing that armor really did (especially the banana/pickle) was make yourself taller and easier to spot, and you would only get like ~5-10 more health.
4) I feel like the protective weapons were removed to balance out the amount of rocks, trees, buildings, etc you could hide behind, because the map is smaller and there's alot of buildings in it to hide behind, making cover really easy to find. Also blessings like "shield" exist that negotiate a bit of damage, and heal books/heal blessing/relax/regeneration help alot with healing. If you're being shot at in the open, use a heal book while running, and use a heal blessing. easily regenerate to full health, rinse and repeat.
5) Gun attachments are rare? Go to Actual Finland. There's atleast more than 1000 different loot drops, the houses are stuffed with gear, including gun attachments.
6) With blessings like weapon master, they have increased aim. Also blessings like insight allow you to see people through walls. Jarl Axe is a 1 tap, same with any other sniper headshot, and crossbow headshots. Crossbows are broken imo, I used an automatic crossbow w/ fast attachment and red dot, along with a jarl axe, and got about 15 kills in a single game. Albeit, there are still cheaters, but the anticheat has mostly stopped the cheating problem as I only have seen 1-2 cheaters in the 75ish games i have played in f2p.
"I'm not going to talk about the servers, or other idiosyncrasies the game might have today, (the lack of minimap, airdrop weapons, killcam etc.) I'm sure the dev team are working their ass off trying to bring this game to a level where it can shine the most, and I appreciate it. I want to end this by thanking LANDFALL for bringing us this masterpiece, and saying a fat ♥♥♥♥ YOU to those who nearly ended this game back in 2018 by cheating the ♥♥♥♥ out of it." I agree with this more than anything. I'm fairly sure the dev team have to be working atleast 6 hours a day on their project and they have my respect as a development group for bringing the game out of the horrible pit it used to be in.
I feel like most of your issues (except the one listed above) are problems related to changing to the new meta. There's alot of new guns, some removed, and there will likely be balancing patches in the future. I did like the old tabg, but this feels more new, official, fresh, and more balanced.
If it was an actual finished release I would even be okay with it, but not even that. It's just as buggy as it was back then, if not more.
It might be just me, but the original April Fools version was simplier, more direct and fun. It was unbalanced in many ways, but that crazy randomness was what made it a unique experience each time, playing just for the random lol than to win.
Now instead? Overly complicated, still unbalanced as heck, while forcing you to play for the best gear if you want to have a chance to survive more than the first minute.
An example: I had a good laugh finding the periscope gun barrel, but in the current gameplay there is no point for using it at all. Kind of makes you think what the game has changed into...
Near instant kills seem far more common now than they were back then: I don't know if aiming was changed in some way, if veterans got REALLY good, or if cheaters are an even bigger problem now, but sometimes it feels like I'm playing instagib.
I know, muskets and blunderbuss were there at release too IIRC, but at least back then almost nobody (hackers included) would land those shots consistently.
I think we will never have a kill-cam simply due to the game physics making it impossible to work.
Now imagine that applied to a physics game with extreme wackyness like TABG.
Even assuming the server really kept track of everyones body physics (and I'm sure it doesn't), the simulation will never really match what actually happened, as the bodies and aiming randomly wobble around instead of being in fixed positions like in normal shooters.
