Can you kill downed players?

I don't seem to be able to kill a downed player. Unloaded a full MG42 mag into him and his googly eyes remained fixed upon me... almost taunting me.

what do you mean "downed" if they lie down on the ground that means they are dead

well then it doesnt matter if they die or not, if they are downed their buddy is most likely close to them and they die after their buddy die

Like in other BR games if a player is teamed up they get downed first which allows them to be revived by their teammate.

Like in other BR games if a player is teamed up they get downed first which allows them to be revived by their teammate.

i know how BR games work, but the difference in this one is that when you are dead/downed it's the same model and bodies remain in the world after you kill someone, that doesnt happen in PUBG and Fortnite

When you're downed, the character is still squirming and is visibly moving from the waist up. You know exactly what he is talking about.

As for OP, the easiest way is to kill the rest of the squad. Nothing seemed to happen when I tried to shoot the downed players themselves, although I didn't test this thoroughly.
