I want to be frank... I am a veteran Animal Jam player. I played Animal Jam: Classic for nearly 10 years, since during the beta stages of the game. I have made so many great memories, and friends on this game. Many of which I am still friends with to this day.
However, after all of the ♥♥♥♥ that's gone down over the past several years, I have to say, please... For your sake, or for your child's sake, DO NOT download this game.
WildWorks is NOT a company you want to support, mainly for their hypocrisy, and lack of consideration to the true safety and care of their playerbase.
This company has lied, scammed, and cheated their players out of their money by promising games they hardly completed. They have silenced anyone who tries to criticize their behaviors and negligence towards their games and the community surrounding them (I won't be surprised if they remove this review, too). And they have gone against their own morals by turning their investments towards NFT's, which are destroying the environment--something that Animal Jam has ALWAYS been against, and has taught its young players to never invest in... Yet, here they are...
On top of this, and the most heinous of all, is that they claim that Animal Jam is a "safe" and "fun" environment, when they have tried to silence anyone trying to speak out about the groomers and scammers who are constantly lurking on this game. (I know this from my own personal experiences, too. Reported and even called HQ several times, and no legal action was ever taken towards people who were grossly harassing me online.)

I used to love this game... No, "Love" isn't even the right word. This game was my life and soul. I played countless hours on AJC, roleplaying, decorating, making masterpieces, and socializing with amazing people. I even enjoyed this version for a little bit, too...
But unfortunately, due to the horrid circumstances of the company, and the decisions they have wrought... I think I need to finally put this game to rest. And to all those out there who see this, (IF you see this, idk, this might get removed), please... I beckon... There are so many other, BETTER games out there for you or your child to play...
You might spend a little more money elsewhere, but honestly? Anything is priceless compared to this... That's just my two cents...

Abandoned their other games, lied to their players, and changed to an NFT supporting company after years of being planet friendly. I grew up playing Classic and it hurt to see this happen to a game I loved, do NOT support them

Abusive PAY TO PLAY with microtransactions.

I've been playing this game for years in the android version but I'm so disappointed with the new policies of this company.
There are two ways to obtain the special (actually more than half of the items) sapphire items in this game: by paying once or by getting a membership (you have to pay monthly) which gives you 5 sapphires a day.
They have been removing the access to multiple features if you don't pay monthly, the ''nonmembers'' were fine at first because they could spend money on the items they wanted and not having to renovate the membership. But that's over, animal jam is restricting all the new items and minigames to ''membership exclusive''.
So basically you pay let's say during 1 year but then you decide to stop paying and all your items that were given to you are gone unless you open the wallet.

I can't be more disappointed after all this time enjoying the game but I don't want to spend 5$ a month for being able to wear the items that I already earned.
I really don't recomend you to buy the membership, there are tons of other beautifull and funny games out there that offer a lot more content than this money hungry mobile game with microtransactions.

However, if you don't mind spending tons of nice $$$ in a game that will remove your items once you stop paying monthly then... go on.

PD: the comunity is awfull because this is of course a kids game and they don't know how to behave like a decent human being so don't be surprised to find a lot of crazy little kids around that want to steal all your items.

I've been playing Animal Jam off and on since 2016. For all the time I've played (and payed, as I had membership for quite a few years), the developer has added as little content as possible while trying to maximise profits by locking everything they could behind a membership or premium currency paywall. Now I find they've added loot boxes and pet gambling, and I can't help but find it insulting. I appreciate that servers and ongoing development cost money, and giving kids a safe and moderated online space to be themselves is a wonderful thing, but preying on them like that is where I draw the line. I could not in good conscience recommend this game to anyone.

So with this being a game for children the idea of microtransactions are is rather discouraging to the demographic this is targeted to. If this is supposed to be a childrens animal/pet dress up then hopefully they will remove the limitations at least upon the animal selection races and make event ones with the earned currency. Have a way for the Kid to earn that panda character and leave the microtransactions to the animated and amazing looking dress up items.

+ Custom names and characters
+ vast world similar to neopets

- Heavily limited access to new animal characters
- Heavily locked behind a money wall!

I will admit i did not play long as it felt to me limited upon what i can do with my character.

They literally stream sniped, banned and censored everything. They even blocked you from typing your own nickname with an update, you're forced to generate one from some list with words... AND THEY CENSORED THE CHAT AS WELL. You have premade words to click. That's how you communicate on animal jam, can't type anything. AND Removed the duck as character for removing any reference. That's one of the weirdest devs I've ever seen.
