I wouldn't assume so. I'm sure there's ways to make it fit but without hearing from the actual makers of the show or seeing a reference *in* the show that can't be explained in any other meaningful way, then I, personally, would assume that it was not.

Hessonite is a canon character, but I wouldn't count on the games' story being canon.

2nd level canon, which means canon unless the show retcons the events.

On S03E01 of the Steven Universe Podcast, Rebecca Sugar stated that the whole game is level 1 canon. Hessonite is seen in S03E14 "Monster Reunion", and is mentioned in S05E25 "Legs from Here to Homeworld".

The first game was 2nd level canon, this one is 1st level canon. At least, in its current state, no word on previously planned but currently unreleased/undeveloped/maybe cancelled DLC.
