The First Boss
Hey there. I'm simply wondering what others have done to defeat Furnace Face/other name.

I got a game over to him 3 times in a row before I grinded and got Connie's Sword Storm. I ended up studying with Connie until she had enough stacks to nuke the boss down as fast as possible.

I am aware you can shield bash the Choppers (personal name) into his saw-filled mouth to prevent him from eating wood, but the Choppers and Circular Saws spawn at ridiculous rates after some time. It just wasn't effective.

I chose Pearl out of the 3 options because I like Pearl the most as a character. I didn't expect I would get Garnet last and by extension Shield Breaker. So I didn't have Garnet to break the shields of incoming Choppers. (shielded Choppers are immune to knock back, making Steven useless)

I've 101%'d the game by this point, just curious. Furnace Face certainly gave me the impression this game would be much more difficult than Attack The Light. And indeed it was.

I had garnet at first and barely used her. I used the human trio and just played defensively by having Greg buff the team/clock, steven would bubble, and connie would counter as needed. Once I set up that defense, I would send Connie into attack mode (she was min/maxed for attack) and I would hold that formation for a while until the boss was at 1/3 health. Then I'd just fusion to Stevonnie to finish the job--I beat Dave on the first try but it was an epic battle down to the final pixel of health!

Stevonnie was really useful against that boss for me

I too also got Pearl first without seeing the outcome of how much i needed garnet during the first part of the game, after some grinding up on levels i just spammed stevonnies sword flurry on the boss, whiles ignoring all the little guys. after all the time trying to figure it out all i needed was to spam lmao.

I figured I had to simply bash the Choppers into his mouth, but there were just too many! Not to mention the shielded Choppers, or specifically the shielded Choppers that come in from the right side, and already had logs. (why even have a log pile if they just SPAWN with logs???) And I'm pretty sure you can't bash the backside of a Circlular Saw...

There were easily over 10 enemies on screen at once... I was STUMPED you could say. Bashing wasn't working, and focusing on the Choppers wasn't working, so I just spammed with Sword Storm...after I got the move, that is. Connie would end up never leaving my squad, used her the whole game.

Out of the 5 bosses, this first boss was the hardest for me. Nothing else game over'd me besides Furnace Face.

I had Garnet and Connies combo attack and it took out 75% of the boss.

It was a shock because the rest of the game had been pretty brutal. Enjoyong the heck outta it though

This boss was a first time go for me but I was lucky in team comp and set-up. My team had Greg, Pearl and Amethyst. Everyone had a full friendship gauge, Greg knew the star song and Steven had the ukulele.

I started with Greg and Pearl combo song to boost Pearl then put Greg into the star rock. Used the super star fruit thing for 6 points, bubbled Greg and then saw the little dudes running out. Fused Pearl and Amethyst for Opal and dropped the ukulele on Opal. Hit the arrow rain on the first dude as he was picking up the log and it destroyed everyone moving into/out of it. Focused down the boss with the 6 point charged shot from Opal.

Eventually I missed a guy with the arrow rain and he got an upgrade to the axe dude. Just dropped it on him as every other mob had to walk through that spot at some point. I was also kinda lucky with Opals placement as her charged shot was right in line with the path for the upgraded axe dudes.

I spammed Stevonnie, but I let the little guys roam around so that screwed me over, I barely won.

Me personally just had Connie, Greg, and Garnet. All on full friendship (At that point in the game I saved those kinda moves for REAL emergencies because I was still learning), put everyone on overheal with greg/steven move, then waited for stars to build, buffed Connie with greg/connie move, and just beat the crap out of the boss with the garnet/connie move, completely left the little guys and focused the boss, was over in around a minute, before the small guys could even become a problem, no items used. Though I will admit I wasted a bit of time just listening to that boss OST. :)

I had the same build, but would at times swap out Garnet for Peridot for the mandatory puzzles. Peridot also had a faster run speed. I dunno... Game was sort of easy but I glad that it wasn't frustrating. I had a fun time playing!

Personally I used Amethyst and Pearl (picked Amethyst first cause AtL Whip is crazy) alongside Greg. Everything was going well with Ukulele on Amethyst so she can just clear everything and trigger the Freebie badge as much as possible with Pearl for the more consistent damage against the boss and Greg was kinda just there- halfway through the fight he stopped Jamming cause my game lags sometimes so I can't get perfect blocks often enough with Greg to keep resetting his Jam when I needed to spam star fruits and whip. In the end Greg and Steven went down and the Gems were at there last leg. Luckily they were able to fuse into Opal and Opal deforming didn't poof them so Steven was able to get back up after he missed the Giant Woman and a Clutch Together Breakfast got me the win.
