Saving troubles?
I just bought this game on steam and the first thing I noticed is that there's no way to save the game, there's no main menu to go to if you want to quit the game or anything like that.

The same supposedly automatically saves, but after my computer froze on a loading screen, and I restarted, I lost all my progress after playing for several hours.

I want to enjoy the game but it's now going to be tedious getting back to where I was because I lost all my progress. I know this was made for mobile first but the PC version needs to have a main menu for manual save and return to desktop option. It seems the only way to "safely" quit the game is to tab out and close the window which I'm not too keen on doing either.

Does anyone else have issues like this? what are your thoughts? This kind of ruined my first experience with the game because it didn't seem like it was autosaving as I went, and there's no manual save option. It feels like a massive oversight when porting to PC.

Hi there, let me see if I can address a few of your issues:

1) Long loading time - you may be affected by the same thing that cause a few other people to also experience an infinite loading screen. If that's the case, please read this for assistance: https://steamcommunity.com/games/821890/announcements/detail/1710691920364441861

2) There is a return to main menu button. Pausing the game and selecting Save and Quit should return you to the main menu.

3) If you want to quit out of the entire game, press the back button on the main menu and it will bring up a dialog box asking you if you want to exit the game.

4) The game does autosave, so you shouldn't have lost your progress. Can you go to Users > <username> > Appdata > Locallow > Grumpyface studios > Save the Light > and let us know if you see any save files there. This is the first case we've heard of the game not saving.

Let us know if you run into any more issues!

I see a "STLGameData.sav" file, is that what I'm looking for? if it is how do I get it back into the game because launching the game results in 3 new game files

Yes, that's the one! Can you tell us where exactly that file is? Is it in the same location that I described or was it in another directory very close to that? Just trying to make sure I have all the details so we can get the game back to where it needs to be.

You can also email the save file to support@finitereflection.com and I can double check it to make sure it's not corrupted or anything.

The file is in C:\Users\User\AppData\LocalLow\Grumpyface Studios\Steven Universe Save the Light and i will send the file shortly

well how do i pause the game? i see no way of finding a "save and quit" option. the esc key does nothing, Tab brings up the upgrade menu with no save and quit option, there doesn't appear to be a way to access any pause menu or anything

Hello I think I can help.The button for pause is Enter. I found out it by accident when I click on it.
