Example, if I wanted the best outcome for my next single I'd go with (and idk if this would be exactly right for your group and how you've built them up), Group Handshake, Pop, Happiness, Cute. That gets me plenty of broad appeal, Hardcore fans like it at 180% right now, and thanks to the group handshake (at my current skill level) they'll buy 48% more copies).
I release number 1 singles pretty much every time now, just doing that. Obviously wouldn't have worked without enough fans to make it happen, so you need a fanbase first. Well, tbh I change things up as I'm trying to skill up different stuff, but you get the point.
I did remember one other thing though. Skill level of your staff. I have 2 dance studios and 2 recording studios, one of each for production and one of each for coaching. I also have an office worker focused on production as well, and all of those are at the highest level I could hire them at. That also helps in producing a good product that people want. That helps quite a bit.
Have fun!
Lucius, you said not to continue the story, at which point though? Cause I'd hate to have to restart, I'm on chapter 1 where my story goal is number 1 monthy single to continue but I'd hate to hear that I've soft-locked myself.
BEFORE THAT! Just don't advance AT ALL.
Start a new game, and as soon as you can manage your idols, IGNORE the story. I found out that the game expects you to have built a fan base before proceding because the rate of new fans your rival gets every month is (to me) impossible to follow (and I don't want to wait until my fan base is more than 200k to beat him). The point is to have a single chart where your rival is not present. They only show up after the story in the TV channel where you meet them. So before you do that event, make your fan base like 100k fans, and then when this 1st place single challenge shows up, you will be the unmatched winner in the first try. There is absolutely no reason why we should rush the story while not being prepared for the challenges ahead.
