As someone who's just not getting the hang of it but still probably not right on strategy, it seems to me that the best thing to do is work towards getting rid of debt. Once the debt is gone you make money way easier. In my attempts, 5 members seems to be the ideal early game amount, then slowly move into a full 10 member roster as you move towards a midgame. Sister Groups don't seem like a very good idea to me, I probably just don't understand them but the mechanics are wonky. Concerts I think are the key, you make fantastic money on concerts, you want to make sure you have at least 90% attendance but once you can reliable get 100% you can charge like 9,000 per ticket and make piles of the green stuff. I'm also starting to think it might be worthwhile to hire higher tier staff earlier on because of how much better of a job they do at everything, i don't know though. You're going to want at least 15 members for a cafe, and even then stamina can become a recurring problem with any additional contracts or tv shows so maybe it'd be much more profitable with 20 members.

Build Theater, research and pay 30m to unlock Subscription you're done, it will cover pretty much all your expense.
Start Sister Group then build another Theater for Sister Group you're done, at this stage you will get millions+ profit even without releasing any singles, no concert, etc.
At this stage this game pretty much become Harem Manager xD

I'm assuming you're like I was then, always running out of money too quickly. So here's some tips for you.
-Internet shows are a good, cheap way to rake in fans while minimizing the effect of rent
- Keep your idols salaries on manual, then go to the salary tab and lower them all as much as you can in the beginning. Don't bother with auto salaries until you are confident you are bringing in more per song than they cost to upkeep.
-While it is very tempting to go digital release to avoid spending money, don't. Focus on group handshake and produce only the amount of CDs that is equal to the nearest even number of your current fan count.
-Cafe just isn't a solid way to make money passively. Focus on the stage instead, and make sure to carefully monitor your ticket price. Start at 500 and increase by 250 whenever attendence is reaching 100. And don't be afraid to lower it if the attendence number drops too much.
-The game isn't lying about the fan count being important. Upgrade your Promotion as much as as quickly as you reasonably can, you WILL notice the difference.
-Trend tracking is dumb and rarely changed the numbers I got. Save your research.

Hope these help! :D -Manager of Star Saga

You need your manager to constantly be doing nothing but research. Maybe invest in a second manager. and eventually you will reach the research requirement for streaming.
As for the other part, just have a lot of money saved up and it shouldn't be an issue to buy the equipment.
