Losing Horses

I am playing now for 10 Hours. I do not know what happend, but i lost 4 of my Horses already!
One of them was a payed one and one i've breed from the two beginning Horses.
The only Horses i have levt are the ones from the beginning. So it can't be the age of the horses. Can anyone help?
