Suggestion: Make Solar Still NOT follow Production Limits
While it makes perfect sense that any water producing building would follow the production limit on water, I think it would be improved if it didn't.

At the moment, the still pauses EMPTY, but I would prefer if the still NEVER paused because it is time consuming, and it would be nice if my citizens drank from it even when water is paused, since it's basically "free" once built (taking no resources to make water in the still).

That makes sense. When the solar still was added to the game it didn't follow the limits (due to a bug). At first we also thought it was more handy that way, but in the end it proved to be more of an annoyance because drifters still wanted to bring the water to storages to keep the still producing.
For that reason we fixed the bug and made the still consistent with other producers.
What you want might be fixed with a "Don't empty" button perhaps?

I didn't realize the still water COULD be hauled, none of my citizens have ever hauled any from the four I have. Hrm... that does change things a bit.

Hehe, it was more noticeable before the patch. The newest patch enabled them to drink directly at the still. :)
Before that they needed to haul it to storage before they could drink..

That makes sense. I'll keep an eye out to make sure it's not just a bug in my save that has them never hauling it. The way it seemed to be working to me was perfectly reasonable as a mounted "drinking fountain," but if the output is hauled, then it should indeed be treated normally.

Although maybe make it so it stops when it's almost full instead of empty so that we get the benefit of the time it sits? Probably even less of a big deal since they become somewhat secondary once we get to the de-salinator anyway.

This was actually how the predecessor to the solar still worked, but that was too confusing to the players. Likely because of it being the only construction that worked that way and it looking more like a storage.

Thanks for the suggestions. We're still thinking of additional ways to provide water and food and we'll take these into account.

The Solar Still is OP enough already imo. Every run I make of this game begins the same way, because the other methods of producing water are a waste of time and resources, it's better to get the research points needed to build Solar Stills early on. Once you have 4-7, you have infinite water for the rest of the run.
