Weight limit: am I missing something?
I've played the game for almost 15 hours and have reached the point that it actually feels I am achieving something: 15 residents, just unlocked the food truck and worked out how to efficiently process my salvage.
Then I get a message that my energy use is inefficient, but it seems I have reached a weight limit so I can't add anything else of use.

There is no mention in the in-game notes about there being an actual ceiling to the weight of a town - I kind of had the impression it could just go on forever - but I can't figure what I can do. So have I missed something, or is this mechanic built in to keep the towns from becoming cities?
And if that is the case, how do you learn things like buildings and parks?

Hey,

You can build the 'Town Tugger' building to increase your weight capacity.

Cheers and have fun!

Thank you. I hadn't unlocked that section of the Research Panel on that save so didn't know it existed. I started over and found it for my second attempt though.

pretty sure there was always a weight display in the upper right hand corner?

There is, but it's not clear until you can add nothing more that there is an actual limit (although of course it makes sense there would be one!).

I had thought the Radio Tower was more of a late-game item, so was focusing my research on other things, hence I hadn't unlocked the part with the tugger. I abandoned that save, to restart with more of an awareness of my weight and have been able to get much further.

It's all a learning curve!

the Tugger doesnt seem to add much weight, your going to need huge amounts of them.

During the first weeks of the game there is no need to increase the number of residents. First, you need to do all the basic research so that there is a stable supply of water and food, and that the houses are pumped. Then you need to find an engineer and an architect who will examine the necessary buildings. It is also good to find a botanist, as his buildings improve the beauty of the settlement, this is important in the game so that the residents do not complain. After this, you can increase the number of inhabitants and the number of buildings.

Two tuggers is usually plenty fine for what you're going to need normally :)
