why do drifters ignore crafting limits?
so many times it does not trigger the max on the building stop till i have around 4-8 more than i set in the que. why is this?
it seems like the only time it triggers close to the proper value is when i dont have enough mats and they are very slowly making them 1 at a time, or when I have the limit set really high.

its when i set limits from 2 to 10 that i end up with the 4-8 more all the time.

I have experienced the same problem, so at least you're not alone! ;)

You should reset the production order on a workstation after setting the production limit (clear all orders, then set it to infinite). If you manually set it to make a specific amount, I think that ignores the limit. But I agree, sometimes it just doesn't obey the logic you expect it to. The game should obey the production limits at all times, otherwise they're pointless.

I'm not sure, but it seems like the crafted items are stacked until a drifter is available to move them out of the production site. These items waiting to be moved to general storage don't seem to count for the limit. More will just continue to be made until the stored ones are moved out and trigger the limit, making the amount extra depend on drifter availability so seems random.

This is still a problem and it's making ma jarate boil. Water limit is set to 10. but they keep going even after 11 ... I have 12 now, after I stopped it manually. Energy gets wasted and other work gets neglected. The production queue was set to infinite. Is it maybe only checking from specific containers and not the whole base?
This system needs a rework, pls.

Just to clarify the problem

And it happens the other way around too

production limit reached, ... except that it's not

Found the reason why the production limit is reached on the second screen. It already reached 20 but it's not checking the WHOLE base. Which is fine if it wouldn't also block me from building things even though enough resources are available.

Because the queue is set to unlimited and the items don't count in inventory until they hit the storage.

So the game continues to make unlimited items until a drifter goes and takes the items to storage.

It's probably going to take a lot to fix or they will have to count items as they are made instead of being counted only when they are stored.

I don't understand why the developers continue to ignore this. It's really game breaking early game as you have limited drifters and supplies, especially when both Chopped wood and planks are needed from dried wood (which is limited early) and both are important.

It's a recipe for disaster for new players which is why I'm guessing the forums doesn't really show much of evidence of a lot of new players. Had I played this game for the first time today I would of got a refund after about 30 minutes.

Exactly, the game needs to check all containers including export slots of production buidlings

I played the beta build earlier today and the crafting limits seem to be working now. Basically nothing was going over. I also noticed for example if I had say my planks set to limit 10 and Used 4 planks, the game would only queue up 4 planks to make (instead of queueing up the max amount if I had enough dry wood).

Made the game much more enjoyable as I could build multiple production buildings of the same type, set each of the different items it makes to unlimited, and actually trust it would stop when the limit was reached.
