Plenty Fish, No Food
I have plenty of fish, but zero food and don't know why?

My best guess is that this is happening because you are catching bottle-fish, processing them into un-bottled fish, then processing the un-bottled fish into un-bottled *fillets*. The un-bottled fillets can only be cooked in the final-tier food building and require a seaweed sheet as an additional input.

am having same problem, and people dont do much job they get stuck, and is so hard to make food now with thes update,i start game 6-7 times but no more am done.

The fact that the top-tier unbottled fish food requires all these research items, AND seaweed, AND still poisons you seems kinda useless. Might as well just use 'em on the fish sticks.

1; have to dry bottlefish, either with bubble or without bottle
2: oil gobblers NEED to be cleaned and then cooked
3: flounders need to be cooked or fileted/cooked

If you want early game food you atleast need sticks and a cook station and a oil scrubber station

Doesn't sounds as if the game has become more fun since i played it a couple of months ago, maybe i wait until christmas.

Yah with the new food/pollution. It's kinda hard for some people but people that's been playing for ever easy. Just depends on your base layout and what you do first within the first few days.

Not a fan of the new fish / food / poison system. It's VERY punishing for a beginner player, and it really confuses new players. Late game fish is very easy with proper buildings and research maxed out. But early game getting food kinda sucks, as you're FORCED to poison your drifters, and that can easily wipe a new save from hunger combined with being forced to see your drifters stuck in bed for a long long time.

I drove around with bare items; collected a bunch of canned food; while the town was still very light; so basically had just plastic maker, 2 small storages and wood planks until I got canned food up to 15; then I could plan adding food without poisoning my crew;

This recent patch (Pollution) is the first one I'd say made the game LESS fun.

I found the poison to have little impact on things. In fact after the first time it happened, I completely stopped noticing it. :/

Yeah. I agree.

If it is a part of a much larger plan then it might be good but it is totally lacking any positive dimension at the moment. They really needed to add something useful to do with pollution at the same time.
I suggested elsewhere that instead of ALL fish being polluted they needed to have sunken oil tankers or rigs leaking oil in huge oil slicks, and any schools of fish that spawn in the slick are polluted but ones NOT in the slicks are still clean. So you can get polluted fish quickly or clean fish if you make the effort. Just something as a counter to the pollution instead of the current 'we've just made all fishing harder and added an unavoidable penalty as well' thing that they dropped into the game.

Heya

It is indeed part of a much larger diabolical plan that involves world domination...

For real, we know the game is operating quite differently at the moment. We introduced some elements that pave the way for upcoming fun elements. The upcoming patches will "fix" these issues and reveal their potential.
For instance the next big patch focuses on world building. This will impact gathering food and other resources among other things.
"Getting hungry? Maybe we should check out the supermarket area you discovered on the map"

The same goes for pollution. We think its a fitting and interesting addition but the way it works now is not what it will be.

It's kind of like building a house of cards. You need to hold some of the cards in place while u balance others on top of it. At that moment the house can't stand on its own but once u placed the cards on top of it, the house can stand on its own.

What I'm trying to say is...
Thank you for helping us hold the cards steady while we make it strong enough to stand on its own.
Thank you for your feedback

I don't bother with debottled fish. The debottler is too energy intensive in early game for little gain. I start with drying bottled fish then add in seaweed salad when possible. Between them it's enough for a crew of 3 until you research the fishwasher and food hut. I use the other fish then, since they make final food with no contamination, and you will have collected lots of them by that time.
Contamination is just an annoyance, maintain 2x days of water and food to get through the rare days of sickness. The game is actually easy if you pay attention to getting what you need. Maybe if you add to the crew too quickly would make it difficult.

Can't argue with that last point. Indeed adding crew before you are prepared for them with food production capabilities and housing often goes badly. Better players than me can probably cope but average ones like me can easily make a mess of it.
It's the sort of game that you are unlikely to succeed overwhelmingly on your first play but if you take all you learn from that one the second time through is pretty good.
