I don't think that's up to the devs, but the publisher.
I wouldn't know about teammates, I haven't played in teams yet as my friends didn't download it after I said "Oh, it's PvP." But i played it anyway and damn, waiting for the next free weekend.
I think if they really push streamers into showcasing the game it will hold a strong community for a long time to come.
They are clearly planning to continue updates and adding new agents, and that is what will keep people. The free to play weekend has already sucked a lot more players in, meaning that when people hear about it, or get the chance to experience it, more and more will play, and stick around for a while.
I just think maybe it should be free to play since they have the battlepass/fomo item shop and things.
This game is unique and the sky is the limit. Fortnite really didnt get big until a few months in. This game has only been out for a month. It peaked my interest immediately, but the free to play weekend is where I got it. I like many others, am hesitant to throw money at game after game hoping for something good. This game is good. They just need to make sure people are seeing it and hearing about it.
You can definitely get hundreds of hours in before the game dies, so $20 is a good deal.
So while I can't say for sure that Deceive Inc. will draw in players or not, the first month has shown the game bucking the trend. I would like to think that's a good sign that players enjoy the game enough to stick around--hopefully more now that the free weekend lured noobs like me into trying (and then buying) the game.
I was playing evolve with under 1 min queue time with 54 players.
You only need 12 players a game, so in most regions yes its decent honestly. Theres only so mamy players to go around
Planetside 2 still has massive firefights at 2k players, Natural Selection 2 is perfectly fun under 300 players, I've played games where 20 players is a massive day (Tribes Ascend, random MUGEN fighters where you matchmake by pinging people in a discord, etc.). Tripwire Interactive itself still sells Rising Storm 2 which doesn't even hit 1k peaks anymore, there are countless games that people on here would fearmonger as 'dead' that are entirely playable
like others have mentioned this game also has crossplay which extends the shelf life even more
if you liked the game on the free weekend, buy it and keep having fun with it
