1. Obviously it's the Tab key on keyboard (and Space for 6th sense, if ever useful).
2. On the long time, the consequences are just the Corruption rising, and with it the snapping of your hunters.
3. To increase the battle difficulty, the only way I know is to choose "Ironman" mode to disable the manually save, or change the threshold of auto-save (the tactical one and the stragical one) in the game options.
I am a turn 120, I have an industry of about 30 hunters-gatherers. I think this whole idea of food/gathering/crafting would be great in a time-limited game, but without such restrictions, they are just ... a loss of time, really.
I feel half of my time was going gathering about 500-1000 of each resources, then coming back to camp, and crafting extras of everything I will ever need
- 6 Hunter blades (small weapon, great damage)
- 3 Spearguns
- Nets for spearguns
- Charms +10 stamina
- Hunter pistols that sells for 100sp
Now that phase is finished, I travel at all time with only 6 hunters : 3 "clean" hunters that mostly never attack a creature, and 3 hunter-killers that will get crazy over time. I use either formation for according to the mission type. I never kill a creature needlessly, because there is only bad things happening in that case.
I have at least 20 clean hunters, that all look to be sane. Hugo Devitt never left "camp" and is still alive and well.
So Corruption of your hunters just will kill them, it's not really a proper way to make the game harder.
The Darkness is the difficulty level in the level you are in. It DOES make the level harder if you start killing every monster in a level with a lot of them when the mission is to avoid them. It may be even fun to do it, but like Jack said, it will make your hunter crazy.
EDIT : All I am saying here is from the codex, never tried it.
I have just been trying to kill EVERYTHING on an "Activate" mission. In 6th sense mode, Darkness activity still says "Weak"....hmmm
EDIT : I killed everything. No change. Hm. I think "Killing monsters make darkness stonger" is false,
I think that "Killing monsters make darkness stonger" is just a mean to say that Darkness influence on your hunters (=Corruption) increase, not the Darkness influence on the monsters (= see by 6th sense).
Seems Corruption increase little by little by travelling. I think hunters left at the Crown are not concerned by that.
An advice : there is a charm that you can give to your hunters to slow the corrption.
