...Also - I deleted the game and am currently re-installing it, so that lil bit o script shouldn't currently be active.
the only problem is that you have to install the old driver every time you turn your pc back on again, but doesnt take to long to install, hopefully nvidia will but up some better drivers soon
You shouldn't have to reinstall a driver everytime you start your computer.
You might have automatic Windows updates enabled, including optional and recommended updates which often times include video drivers.
If you are using an Nvidia card, try out the 306.97 drivers.
Go to the Nvidia website and search through the beta and legacy driver section. It should be there.
Another thing to note - There has been a fairly recent Windows update that has been giving troubles to a lot of software. It is automatically installed if you install Internet Explorer 10, but is also available to install separately.
The name of the update is "kb2670838". If you don't mind reverting back to IE9, try uninstalling that update (uninstalling it will take IE10 with it, since IE10 requires it)
It messes with everything that has to do with DirectX, not just games (but especially games that use DX10 and DX11).
It doesn't mess with all system configurations, but I recommend giving it a try.
