360 Controller Issues
I tired the demo for this game on xbox and loved it, but I preferred it to be on my laptop. The only thing is that the experience seems totally different with the mouse and keyboard simply becuase I suck at using it. So I went to gamestop and asked for a controller that could run on a laptop/pc. The man who sold me the controller said he had used the same type of controller, it works well, and all you need to do is download the driver for it. So I plugged my controller in and downloaded the driver from http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/d/xbox-360-controller-for-windows. But it simply will not work. If anyone is willing to help I'll try to provide more details.

It should work.
Have you tried unplugging the controller, waiting half a minute, then plugging it back in?
Are you using Windows 7?

the driver should install automatically when you plug in your official xbox controller

Yeah, I think only WIndowsXP required a specific download but even without that it would still recognize it as a basic controller.
Of course, this game doesn't work on XP so that's a non-issue.

Do you get that "installed" sound when you plug the controller into the USB?
Any windows messages? Does it work anywhere else other than this game?

I am using windows 7, and the sound is sort of like a low beeping noise with three beeps specifically. When I go to device manager, it shows I have a gamepad controller but has a yellow sign with an exclamation point, and says no driver is installed for the device. When I select "update driver" it says no driver can be found, despite the fact that I have one downloaded. And I have tried unplugging it and plugging it back in on all my usb ports. At this point I think I may have just bought the wrong product. By the way the controller is black and seems like a bit of an older version of 360 controller then the current one.

I don't think the age should matter. I have a white one that's at least 3 years old.
Did you buy an official Microsoft Xbox 360 controller, or some other brand?

I have used the same white official wired xbox controller for the past 4 years. Maybe there's a faulty connection on the controller, have you tried it on another PC? Or tried a different controller on your own PC? That will allow you to determine where the problem is.

It says gamestop on the right handle. So that may mean its not microsoft official? It works on my xbox, I know that. I also forgot to mention that the controller does light up (at the x) for a quick moment then goes blank.

Is it actually a wired controller that needs to be plugged into the 360 to work, or a wireless controller that also has a USB cable?
'cos the wireless ones actually just use the USB cable for charging, and need a special adaptor to be used on PCs.

You should be able to tell if you're using a official control or not. Does it have the Microsoft logo on it anywhere, backside etc. Common sense man.

I'm going to guess and say you bought a third party controller because I had a MadCatz controller and it does the same thing with not being able to install drivers. Worked on Xbox of course but not on the PC. The light in the center would blink when I first plugged in at first but then would go off and not stay on like the official one does. It would also install the driver and setup everything for you. I would just go get a Microsoft USB official controller.

I've got a Logitech controller that works fine on this game.

Typical - Gamestop trying to peddle their own stuff.

I wouldn't even shop there.

I have a Logitech controller and I can't seem to get it to work for this game. Steam recognizes the controller, but JC2 doesn't. Can't figure out how to use it. I see the setting menu, but not how to make it recognize the controller. New to PC gaming. Can anyone help?
