It's much better.
alsoam i the only one thinks that the free fallin is very... accelerated?
However, even though for the PC I'm also primarily a "mouse+keyboard"-user (although I don't use a keyboard), I would probably still play this game with a gamepad. The thing is, I've already played this game on the PS3, and one of the reasons I got it on there is because this game pretty much feels like a console-game. And because of that it's probably so that the control-scheme was designed for a console's controller, being a gamepad. I mean, look at the dual-wielding action, the two triggers on a current gamepad makes more sense being under your left and right fingers rather than using the left and right mouse-buttons for example.
Another thing it's quite handy for is controlling the air-vehicles. Cause obviously an analogue stick on a gamepad would work better for a plane than a mouse. It can work with a mouse and/or keyboard, but it's a lot more "natural" to do it with the little "joystick" almost like with real aircraft (even though, again, this game is quite "arcade").
And I know... I know the turning and the navigating in general is kind of a drag in practice, but it only takes a bit of getting used to and you'll find enjoyment in it. Besides, this game is mostly singleplay anyway, and you don't really need to have very fast (or even "twitch") movements. This game is rather forgiving and besides that it has an aiming-assist. This game is very "arcade" and bulky, so there's little need for precision or anything like that.
So I'd recommend a gamepad for games like this one, they're obviously designed for that. Otherwise, use your creativity with bindings and maybe even macros if your controllers (be it keyboard, mouse, etc.) allow for it.
sir, you are a derp
