performance on a lower end PC?
I'm asking for a friend who has a 2010 macbook (the white version, not a pro) it looks like he meets the minimum requirements, but i am curious about performance. anyone know if he would get decent framerates with all the settings turned down? for multiplayer.

Just Cause 2 was always a game that was quite mild on system requirements, I played this game even back in the day I had my AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+ and a 2600xt and after that a 5770 :)

oops im sorry. lol. its a macbook, but hell probably be running it on windows anyway. but he has both windows and osx via bootcamp if that matters. specs its a core 2 duo 2.4ghz, 4gb 1066ghz RAM, and nvidia geforce 320m graphics with 256mb shared vmemory. running windows 7 ( i think 64-bit) and for the mac side, osx Mavericks.

320m is abysmally slow and worse than even the old 8600gt. plus I thought macs had to have higher specs than a windows pc to reach the same level of performance. thats certainly true for some of the recommendations I see listed for most games that list mac requirements.

i know nothing of the graphics card itself nor osx, but all a macbook is is a pc with a apple sticker slapped on it basically. same hardware pretty much, so the same exact hardware between a macbook and laptop will perform the same on windows. boot camp just modifies the macbook's firmware to allow bios booting. but yeah as for the card itself, thats why i asked. i was gonna buy just cause 2 for my buddy while its on sale, but theres no sense if his macbook wont even play it. thats why i asked about performance on the lowest settings lol

as for that statement, just to inform, the mac requirements refer to running the game/program on OSX side of things. OSX pretty much only relies on opengl for 3d performance i believe. at least i know it doesnt use directx, which typically is less demanding. but thats just the graphics side of things, again i dont know anything about OSX lol.

hey nevermind guys. i found a youtube video showcasing the game running ok on a macbook pro of the same year, with very similar specs. at only $3, i think im just gonna jump on it and get it for him. if he cant play multiplayer at the very least he can enjoy the game itself. :)
