Is this game like Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction
Mercs is just one of those games that defined my childhood gaming. It seems nothing like it ever came out since. Does Just Cause have the same feel? I have been looking around and it seems probable. If so I'll buy it for sure.

Thanks guys
XOXO

While I never played Mercenaries: Playground, I have seen videos of it and they definitely seem similar in feel. I have put over 230 hours in JC2 and still play it to this day. While there are repetitive aspects of the game such as the enemy outpost design and AI.....hijacking anything anytime, grappling through the air from one thing to another (especially with the grapple range mod), having a blast driving like a lunatic getting crazy air and flying off cliffs, and just blowing everything up never gets old. I should also mention the obvious from the pictures and videos that this game looks visually gorgeous! Also, I play this game using Nvidia 3D Vision which just makes the experience that much more awesome and replayable. I bought it back when the price was much higher and never regretted it, so I would definitely recommend it!

Alright well I guess I'll pick it up. Thanks so much. If anyone else has played Mercs and would like to give input I'm glad to hear it. But I suppose the decision has been made

Yes, it's a lot like Mercs but it has better freedom of movement and it's generally a less clunky game. It doesn't have the same exact feel, but it's close enough while still being something of it's own that it's definitely a game you'll be enjoying a lot.

You can't go around blowing up literally every building, but there's enough stuff to break you'll get your Mercs itch satisfied. Especially if you're in a military jet you threw the pilot out of, strapped him to the back of your plane, then taking off laying waste to their own military strongholds whilst evading SAM missiles. Fun times!

Similar, but a much more light hearted tone. There is a lot more insanity about the violence in JC2, and a lot more freedom of movement. You can still blow lots of ♥♥♥♥ up, however.

Thanks guys. And especially thanks OIAc! What you said completely made sense in the context of this conversation.

I liked Mercenaries: PoD as well. You'll find this game to be very similar, except that you can do even more outrageous stuff and are given more freedom with the grappling hook and parachute always at your disposal.

Oh, and unlike Mercenaries: PoD you can swim and you won't lose health by being in the water.
