Just Cause 2 "Bokeh Filter"
On some Steam discussions people are saying in order to fix the graphical issue that occurs when you upgrade to Windows 10 you need to turn the 'Bokeh Filter' off in settings. But when I go into settings Bokeh is not there. Can anyone help me? I have an Alienware 13" latest 2015 model with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M.

It is the very last graphical option and is only for nvidia users(which you are), if it is not there do not worry about it. Decals is the main option to disable, and sometimes motion blur.

Ok cool. Thanks. That fixed the problem. :)

Now it crashes after about 3 minutes of playing every time since I've turned off Bokeh.

I wanted to bump this thread, even though I know it's old. I have been trying desperately to figure out a way around the constant crashing. For me, it only started crashing with my new gaming laptop, Windows 11 on an HP Omen with a RTX 3070. It never crashed like this on my Win7/Win8 machines.

Anyway, I did a Google search and found this thread in the same forum on Steam that I posted the problem on.

Your settings worked like a charm so far. I have been playing for a little over an hour without a single crash. One thing I will say, is that I noticed before changing the settings to your recommendations, that the game would kind of stutter and stall for a second, which is common on PC games. Only whenever this happened was exactly when the game would crash back to Windows. Sometimes, I was able to get to the pause button before the crash and that would stop it. Now the game still gets that stutter every now and again, only it isn't a signal (so far!) of an imminent crash.

Anyway, there are other people complaining about this problem, including @Sacred Scorn. (Not sure if Steam has notifications or not) But since it helped me, even though this is a seven year old thread, it might help them as well.

Best settings that give me the lowest frametimes after testing on a gtx 660 on Windows 7 are:

Texture detail High
Shadows Medium
Anti-aliasing 2x
Anisotropic filtering 2x
Water Detail Medium
Objects Detail Low

The rest of the settings are set to off

I just wanted to post here again. 5 days after applying Smokey's settings in my game and not one crash.

As long as decals are off it will fix 90% of the crashes.
