Just Cause 2 Start in 2024?

I've installed the game over the years and I'm surprised that the game won't start, it gets stuck on the updating executable and eventually kills the process. My question is, is this a general problem, or depending on the configuration/setup of each computer can it affect the .exe?

Este juego tiene ya casi 15 años, está más que abandonado, no esperéis un parche o algo así. Si realmente queréis jugarlo, usar el buscador de Steam, tenéis miles de hilos con el mismo problema y soluciones, tanto en Ingles como en Español.

It crashed for me trying to go to fullscreen at launch, After adding /borderless=1 to the command line game started fine. Also manually ran the vcredist in the install folder

What solved it for me was reinstalling and restarting my pc.
