MP is basically the same source code as JC2 i woudl think so it should work. But it is higly unreccomended because of VAC

I don't see why using CE would matter in a non-ranked multiplayer game or in a case where it prevents the developers from making $$. I do not have any specific information though about vac so don't put much weight in my experience if you are worried about it. I have used CE to enhance my gaming my experience but never in ways that affected others detrimently.
