Fix the hand crank sections!
I'm using Xbox controllers, right now, one of my controllers can't even do the hand crank sections for some bizzare reason, and the other one can do it, but due to how specific you gotta be with it, it's impossible to actually hand crank some of the puzzles needed for it.

I had a similar issue, but it cleared up once I tried rotating the control stick very slowly. Try 3 or 4 seconds per revolution and hopefully it'll work!

I tried that, but the crank (if using one of the valve cranks and not normal cranks) will just reset back to nothing once I crank it once or twice.

Strange... It seemed to work for me. Perhaps we're using different controller models. I'm using an Xbox 360 Afterglow controller. The clear one with the lights inside.
There is a strange hotspot on the stick that works for me. It's in the lower left section between 7 and 8 o'clock. Move the stick between these two locations slowly and the bar slowly fills.
Official Microsoft Xbox 360 controller works perfectly.

I disconnected my controller and defaulted to the keyboard. I was able to complete the crank with keyboard controls.

I've just filed for a refund for this. Infuriating.

as this is the only result on google..

after some trial and error with the xbox controller, what worked for me is putting the stick in the lower right (around 4-5 o'clock) and wiggling it up and down rather slowly at that position, never going past 6 or 3
as it was the lower left for Crom, it may be a different spot for everyone, just find the spot where it fills the bar about half before receding, then wiggle in that location

EDIT: found the real solution.
Go to graphics options, make sure it's not windowed/borderless window, and set VSync to ON.
Should have known, lego games always have problems with vsync.
Fixes another bug, where steam doesn't lift you up, particularly in the level "vigilant vigilantes", as well.

pause, change controller input to player 1 to keyboard, accept, exit, hold K, turn complete, pause, control settings, player 1, controller, up arrow, accept, controller resumed, enjoy :) long ass way but at least its in game and doable
