Will this game have a pause option?

I was disappointed that the original Spellforce 3 did not have an option to pause and give orders. I assume that this will be the same?
It would be nice if the developers included it as an option that those who want it can use and those who don't want it can ignore.

Sorry to disappoint but it was already stated that it won't.

The strategy part of SpellForce is REAL TIME Strategy. A time-freeze function would count as "tactical"-strategy. The devs of "SpellForce 3" (Grimlore Games) already confirmed that they will stay true to the original formula and won't add things that were never part of the series and it's key features. I am sorry to tell you, but "SpellForce 3" and the upcomming stand alone addon "SpellForce 3 Soul Harvest" won't and will never have this feature since it would break the formula fo the game. If this is a "must have" for a strategy game for you, then this is sadly not the game for you.

You can't pause but you can slow down gameplay for a short period of time to issue out orders. It's pretty useful imo. Gives the player just enough time to react.

I could not care less about labels. I just wanted an option. Those who don't like the option could happily ignore it and not use it. Oh, well.

Forgive the obvious noob questions here, not familiar with the series. Since there is no "tactical pause", is there a game save option at any point or only at certain points? More importantly to me, is there a game pause such as hitting escape so I can walk away from the computer due to various reasons like spouse aggro or resource consumption ?

You can save at any time you want and you can always hit ESC and go afk.

Spellforce 3 had slowdown which you could change to complete pause. Do people nowadays not check the options menu anymore?

As I understand it though, you can't use this to pause, then go work on another part of the map. This was always my problem with the lack of pause - the individual fights were fine without a pause.
