now lets look at Benoit case
Over a three-day period between June 22 and June 24, 2007, Chris Benoit, a 40-year-old veteran professional wrestler employed by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), killed his wife Nancy Benoit and strangled their 7-year-old son Daniel before hanging himself. Autopsy results showed that Benoit's wife was murdered first as she was bound at the feet and wrists and died of asphyxiation on June 22. Nancy was found wrapped in a towel and with blood under her head, although Fayette County District Attorney Scott Ballard reported no other signs of a struggle.
The couple's son, Daniel Christopher Benoit, also died of asphyxia, apparently killed as he lay in bed on the morning of June 23. Then on the evening of June 24, Benoit died by suicide in his weight room, when he used a weight lifting machine to break his own neck. He placed copies of the Bible alongside the bodies of his wife and son, as well as a third Bible on his weight lifting machine.

We are only beginning to learn about Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, it's prevelance and effects.
The amount of repeated head trauma that Benoit receieved through his career make it possible if not likely that he was suffering from this condtion.
Does that make the act less terrible, no. But this does, I believe, make it difficult to judge Benoit the same way you would someone of sound mind.
I've seen perfectly pleasant people turn (temporarily in most cases) into violent patients due to illness, drugs or injury.
I do feel it is sad that a man's entire life and acheivements are wiped away but I can completely understand that promoting him or featuring him prominently on products is not going to happen.

I like Chris Benoit too.. The there are theories about him being innocent.
However the courts decided Benoit was the person who murdered his family and the WWE is a multi-billion company who can't afford to tarnish their name for promoting a murderer until one day he is proven innocent.
