[GFWL FIX] Login errors solved in Game For Windows Live (Step and Screenshots)
EDIT: All the steps along with screenshots
EDIT2: You have to enable Two Step Validation on your (live / hotmail / outlook.com) account in order to be able to generate password app

So if like me you can run the game but could not connect to the GFWL service, the most probable reason for that is that your microsoft live (hotmail, outlook...) password is incompatible with GFWL as it uses the same filter as the xbox 360. But instead of changing your password you can actually generate an "application password". Go to https://account.microsoft.com/ and in the security tab, scroll down till you find Application Passwords, and generate a new one for GFWL.

Step 1:

Step 2:

Step 3:

Step 4:
Download GFWM - Games For Windows Marketplace:
http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/Live/PC/DownloadClient

Be sure to uninstall GFWL - Games For Windows Live before proceding to install GFWM.

Once installed log into Games For Windows Marketplace with your mail and newly generated App Password.
Now as you cannot copy paste it in the game, I would recommend you login first in the desktop GFWM client and check "remember me" & "automatic login", then lauch the game and come play with me ;)

Hope it helps !

Thanks for the suggestion. Can you elaborate or post a screenshot ? When I sign in using the link, I can go to "Security & Privacy". From there I do not see application passwords or generate passwords.

Done

Thank you for the screenshots. I think I am missing the option for App passwords.

Alright I found out that you require Two-Step Verification (TSV) in order to unlock the option as it is meant to allow connection on devices that do not support TSV.

So you either activate TSV or don't bother and use a dumb password of less that 13 caracter with only letters

I managed to get the client installed and logged in...however (probably a major part of the problem) my games (download) list on it is empty, so it doesn't seem to do anything. Do I need to manually add the GFW games to the Live Marketplace client? And if so how?

Worked like a charm. Thanks BeBop.

Nice #($*&#@ error trapping, microsoft. How the hell does "Network Error" translate to "You need to go change your password via the webpage."?

Dusk2Dawn4 > You will have to register your game, but this is done on the first launch of the game. Steam usually open a popup with your gamekey, GFWL will ask for it. If you removed the popup, you can get your key in the context menu when right clicking the game in your steam library.
What you have to make sure in GFWM client is that the login is set to automatic, because its a pain to login in game.

OK thanks. I guess the next step for me then would be to fix the game so that it moves past the intro loop so that I can enter my key. Hopefully I'll fix that soon...if so expect me on

Well you should be able to play right away, add me on steam we'll figure this out, I don't understand why you still can't get in. I have nothing in GFWM except 2 DLC for Section8 prejudice.

Looking at the forums it's a separate issue from GFW...though I had an idea that if I got set up with GFW it may fix it. I load the game, it plays an intro video, then cuts to a title screen. After a minute or so the intro plays again. Pressing anything interrupts the intro, and goes back to title, then intro starts again. All this is before the point in which I enter my key. When I get a bit of time I'll mess with some compatibility settings. I've tried a few but nothing's changed yet

This is the issue I am having. I did not have any luck messing with the compatibility settings.
Funny thing is the game runs ok on my Win 7 laptop its just a little too laggy to enjoy.

im stuck at the Menu of the game where it asks you to sign into Games for Window Live. I can sign in just fine, until asks me to update GFWL, then i get an error stating im not connected to the internet

Wkimo86 have you followed the steps? You have to uninstall "Game For Windows Live" from your computer and then install "Game for Windows Marketplace" instead. Once its installed, launch GFWM (not the game) login and check automatic login.

Now you can start the game. When you'll launch the game you won't even be prompted to log in.
