Battlestations: Pacific

Saving?
Ok, after uninstalling everything, re-installing the game and installing WGL, I finally got Battlestations Pacific to start. Then figured out my Logitech f310 doesn't quite work with game. Ok, I'll deal with it... but now I can't find out how to save progress? I've seen this might be a Live "feature." But not being able to create a Live account, is there a way to save this game???

Yes, game is playable with m & k, but doesn't "feel good" IMHO. From what I've gathered looking around the game only works correctly with an official Xbox 360 controller. Oh MS...

Had to ask regarding saves because entire game lacks "enter," "apply," or "confirm" buttons (strange design decision on the options menus)... and went through all the keys I could hit trying to find a "save game" feature.

Thanks. Probably is just checkpoint saves.

Yes the saves are just checkpoints in campaign and there are no saves in skirmish mode. I use a wired Xbox 360 controller and it works perfectly. Its not an official one but is designed for the xbox.

Thanks! Yeah, after playing a few hours figured as much with the saves -- but still don't understand the lack of "apply" buttons in options menus. Strange design choice.

I'll definitely pick up a controller. IMHO the flying sections really feel like they need it. And glad it doesn't have to be an official controller.

I use a wired afterglow controller and it really helps with air combat

Thanks! Will look at that

It seems to. When you boot up game it tries to login to GFWL, fails, and then allows player to play under an offline profile. As you play SP there is no "quick save" feature... just auto-saves as checkpoints... but yes, it seems to save without actually being logged into the service.

I haven't played skirmish, but from what I gather from people saying re skirmish having no saves, I'd guess that GFWL in this case is solely the gatekeeper for multiplayer.

MS really has messed up with GFWL. It's a problem DRM... and a problem now that it's defunct.
