Train's speed is close to the speed of light

I'm playing US campaign's mission #12 "Air raid against Indochina" and then it comes to the point you need to destroy the train something weird is happening: train is moving with the speed about 300 km/h, it's literally impossible to get your secondary objective done (to destroy 30 objects in the valley). Has anyone encountered this problem? I guess solution can be in limiting frame rate, I'll check my guess later

Nope, played this on normal and hard mode several times and I still manage to destroy the 30 gun placements and the train... might take a few tries ;)

So it's the same for you, at least you also have seen this problem. Tbh I am not that good with games now as I used to be and play mostly for chill, don't think I will tryhard to get this medal, but it's nice to know that in principle it's managable

I have strategy guides for Battlestations Midway and Battlestations Pacific if you would like to have them in case you ever get stuck somewhere in the game. They are the Prima strategy guides in pdf format.

This is one of two missions I will never replay again. It took me five tries to finally be able to get the 30 placements and the train and it was seconds away from entering the tunnel. However, somehow, I let one of the troop ships alive and missed the hidden objective. My sixth attempt wasn't much better but I barely got it. The wingmen are useless. Absolutely useless.

I'm having the same issue. I've played this game on XBox and the trains speed is much slower. I can barely keep up with the train even while using boost.

I just got the gold finally... This mission is not only the worst mission, it's also bugged. It all starts with the bridge cutscene. Sometimes, like OP described, the train shoots through the bridge at mach 5 and enters the tunnel 10 seconds later. Instant restart.

Other times, it goes at mach 5 but then slows down. Or it doesn't show at all but then teleports. In all cases its impossible to complete the secondary objective to kill 30 targets. Also. sometimes the first two targets stop taking damage at like 10% hp randomly, losing you the mission. Fun times.

Here's what I found:
First of all the difficulty doesn't seem to change much for the train section. On recruit the train doesn't have an aa gun I think. Irrelevant. But make sure to kill all the freightships in the first section or you won't get Gold!


1. You need to keep restarting the segment until the train barely goes through the bridge at normal speed during the cutscene. That's the run.

2. As soon as the cutscene is over, turbo towards the island after the train. Do NOT try to kill the remaining aircraft - they don't matter but you will lose time.

3. You need ALL the targets that are marked on the radar. You can't pick and choose. It's exactly 30.

4. Do NOT bother shooting the train. IGNORE the train. You will insta kill it at the end. Shooting the train loses you the mission cause it takes way too long.

5. You need to be quick, watch the radar, use turbo whenever able, or to climb quickly, but slow tf down when diving or shooting many targets. For the harbor area where the PT boat is, slow down and move from right to left, if you come in too fast you won't get them in one pass and the circling will lose too much time. Ignore the PT boat as it's not a target. If you miss any targets, it's over, might as well restart.

6. When the voice says that the train is about to enter the tunnel, you should be slightly ahead of the train. Finish all the targets. In the area of the final target (fortress), there are 3 large oil tanks in a row right next to the tracks which the train is on. You should have time to circle once to get into a good position to aim at the tanks and watch for the train (you don't have long though so hurry). Soon the train will go past the tanks. SHOOT the oil tanks now. The train will get blown up. GG.

Geez, I never noticed it has different speed for each run. I guess that's a reason good enough to replay the game and try this mission again, thanks! Been 4 years since my last attempt, let's see if I can get it this time

Tried running the game at 60 fps. Didn't fix it. If you buy yourself time by destroying some installations with the corsair, it might give you a chance to destroy the train using the fuel tanks by the refinery. Plus, it gives you an achievement for doing so.

I've had to give up on this completely. After seeing other videos I discovered that the train is moving way too fast due to some kind of bug. When the cutscene ends for most people the train should JUST be getting off the bridge. I won't even see the train on the bridge in the cutscene unless I load from the checkpoint since it'll already be past it. For me it was already well past it about 1.5mi away. I'm going to guess the train's speed is almost doubled from whatever the base is. I clocked it going 155mph. To make it even worse is all the bonus objectives can't be done early. They all will stop taking damage at 10% health until it tells you to destroy them. Don't waste your time, just move on.
