But how would it affect the game? The game is designed to work with one player so multiple would require level redesigns with different enemy layouts as multiple people also would mean multiple lightning bolts, different hero's and more. Also how would they design the balance of cash throughout? In BTD6 its lazily done by just keeping the area's divided or allowing everybody to stay and one spot, while also cutting cash amounts.

Basically, co-op would be a MASSIVE issue and take like 2-3 years for all the game to have it. or just 1 per game. As it needs a matchmaking system, control functions and more. In general multiplayer games are more expensive to make and VERY annoying to make. Quite a few games, Hollow Knight, Issac and Noitta all are great examples of games being made well but when u put in multiplayer the game kinda breaks (check out the hollow knight multiplayer mod)

A td mp isn´t so hard to do. The towers are passive, you just buy them. You aren´t an moving hitable enemy for the ki. Share or not share money. You can match up with steamworks. Just playing with friends. You are ready to go. Sure you have to lower the difficulty, because you can´t afford high prize towers like in sp. Or you have some addionally mp-maps. But i would play not perfectly balanced sp-maps in mp, too. Just change difficulty if you can´t beat a map after some retrys.

The issue behind this is that mp is hard to balance in this kind of game, it doesn't work right. As its all around who gets the chokepoints and if you don't do a sectioned map then well it gets chaotic, also how would they balance the hero system? Since mixing catha with wilbur is a little busted AS ♥♥♥♥. Not to mention how gold splitting would be factioned into the mix. Your solution is very flawed, it just has to many issues with the gameplay as kr was designed to be a sp game and mp has always made games that are against ai only so ridiculously easy that it ruins the experience. Take bloons and terraria, in both instances you can but the difficulty change and general playstyles will be flopped as in bloons its all about having a guy farm and do nothing but that the whole time and donating money to others. And in terraria its literally just a how long can you survive before your ally spawns in. Multiplayer in ai only games breaks ALOT of balancing in the game. Since ai cant just learn how to counter your teamwork, like other people can.

I only play Bloons and Terraria in Multiplayer. SP is boring for me. So i can live with this balancing things. In Bloons it´s boring to only build money farms for the others, so nobody in our team wan´t this to do or keeps the money for himselve. And we are loosing until we don´t build all for ourselves. This is a lot of fun for us. Maybe a successor of Kingdom rush or a multiplayer-dlc can do it. At least for some maps.
