What Happened to the 4k Graphics?
I bought this game on release and it looked beautiful in 4K.... now (I guess because of an update) the game looks terrible, almost like there's no anti-aliasing or something. The 2k resolution appears to be fine.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

I'll do my best to solve this problem with the next update, scheduled for the end of January 2019.

As a test, could you try disabling display scaling for the game as explained in the link below (option A) and let me know what happens?

Thank you!

Are you sure you're selecting the FULL HD image quality in the settings window at launch?

Of course. I've actually tried almost every setting with hopes of fixing it, no luck. :(

I forgot to mention system specs.. i7 4970k / GTX 1080 / ASUS PB287Q 28"

Just wanted to say that I'm having this issue too, Full HD or not. I play on a 4k monitor and from what I tested, having the game go fullscreen seems to cause this issue. Fullscreen either seems to disable AA or have the resolution low like 720/480p.

Playing at 4k with no fullscreen zooms in way too much and even 2k cuts off a good chunk of the game at the edge. It's weird that playing at 1080p with no fullscreen looks better than any fullscreen option.

Played the first level and will be looking forward to more of the game, but I want it to be as crisp as Frontiers. Seeing this thread at nearly a month old worries me though with no solution at hand. Seems as though only a few are having this problem, including myself.

In case one of the devs see and need this, my system specs are: i7 4770k / GTX 1060 6GB / Samsung UH750.

Thanks for the sshots. They are not 4k... I'm not sure if the problem here is how the screenshots were taken or the uploading that resizes them. Maybe you can take a single raw screenshot and send it to me directly via email at support@kalio.net.

Also, can you send me a sshot from Frontiers? I want to compare them so I can understand what you're seeing.

Thanks!

Same issue here. The previous games are very crisp at 4K, and just bought Origins, and it is pretty blurry comparatively. Bummer.

Friend is having this problem as well. Bought a 4k monitor for Christmas for himself, the game does not display 4k resolution. Only HD

Thanks! I fixed the problem.

I went to the "Kingdom Rush Origins.exe" in my local steam folder, right click, Properties, Compatibility tab, Change High DPI Settings, check "Override High DPI Scaling Behavior. Scaling Performed by: Application", apply, re-launch. Seems normal now!

Thank you! It looks to have worked for me as well!

@cigumo Glad to hear that you got the screenshots and the issue has been identified. Both solutions work that you gave in the troubleshooting link. Solution A was slightly different that the images shown though. Gives me the option of "Disable fullscreen optimizations" instead of "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings." The post Xefier wrote was the same path for me.

I'm really happy to have found the solution here and to see an incoming fix for other players in the future. Looking forward to 100% this game. Cheers.
