Xin is a hero I would consider trash tier :P
Everyone else is inbetween for me but I'm not a fan of Prince Denas, which is specialised in blocking enmies, I don't like Catha too much not only because of her voice but her abilities, I like abilities to directly kill enemies not sleep them.
Reg'Son was is primarily useful for the big meat but lacks otherwise in crowd control and tankyness.
Eridan, Arivan and Vez'nan are more to my liking, I consider them more well rounded and useful to my playstyle.
Crowd control or heavy DPS is definitely the way to go. But I still think that any hero can be used easily, however, some need to be higher leveled than others before they can be used effectively.
veznan is nice with his teleport, bunch of CC, summonable block and long AF range
aesthetically my favourite is bravebark
Denas and Catha are my least favourite; they just hardly do any damage and have very little in the way of health, armour and self-defence. At the start I used Arivan quite a lot because his tornado just seems to last forever, which is great if there is a long stream of many weak enemies. I thought Xin wasn't that bad once he's level eight or so, because his ability has a very short cooldown and unlike some other targeted damage abilities, the pandas will actually switch targets whenever their initial target dies, so none of the damage goes to waste on already dead enemies. Faustus is good, but I find the aiming of his special ability unsatisfying and I like heroes who require a bit more micro; Faustus is mostly a set-and-forget kind of affair which makes it feel like you have an extra tower.
Also Xin sux azz
Arivan - 4/6 Good mixed hero with both strong range attack and tanky with his parry skill
Erivan - 4/6 Nice mage with good hero spell
Catha - 2/6 Very low DPS; hero spell maybe nice, but recharge is long for something that don't deal dmg (it doesn't affect verdict, but her voice is so painfully ANNOYING)
Reg'son - 5+/6 Bandersnatch or Twilight Golem? NO PROBLEM. Also if putted in chokepoint almost immortal. Made some stages very easy.
Prince Denas 3/6 Tanky, but thats it.
Bravebark 3+/6 Very tanky, his instakill is rare and need a lot of micromagement
Vez'nan 5/6 Good DPS, great behind 2 barracks with his skills and demon
Xin 2+/6 Not very tanky, his healing skill is rather weak, low DPS, average hero spell
Faustus 6/6 My favourite, behave like super mage tower. Very good DPS, massive silencing (later very needed), good hero spell. Very fast move, so always he is, where he is needed.
You mixed up Eridan and Arivan just fyi (Eridan is the ranger, Arivan is the elimentalist)
True, thank you for pointing this. Even spelled names incorrectly, that may happen when they are too similar to each other. Luckily we all know, what and who I meaned.
